What is native advertising?

Native advertising is a type of advertising that resembles the editorial content of the media in which they appear.

Unlike display ads or banner ads, native ads don’t really look like ads, they are non-disruptive. Native advertising matches the form and function of the platform while at the same time promoting the advertiser’s product or service.

Types of native ads:

  • “In Feed” ads: they appear in news feeds on social media platforms
  • Search and promoted listings: they appear at the top of your Google search results, or in the sidebar
  • Content recommendations: pieces of content that appear below the content you just read or watched.

Learn about different types of advertising in our Advertising Guide for Beginners.
