What is Business to Consumer (B2C)

Business-to-Consumer is a distribution model when a business sells products or services directly to individuals. Buying a jacket from a fashion store would be the best example of the B2C model. Business-to-Consumer is the most popular type of business model in e-commerce.

What’s the difference between B2B and B2C?

Mainly, in approach to the customer. While B2B marketing campaigns are focused on demonstrating the value of the thor product or service, B2C businesses are all about building emotional relationships with the customers.

Another difference is the price. In B2B, the unit price is lower than in B2C. However, the average order for businesses is much higher. The reason is simple: businesses never order one unit at a time, they take many and regularly, unlike individuals.

B2C marketing best practices

  • Focus on brand awareness strategy. Your audience is much larger than in B2B. The more people know about you — the better.
  • Use strong emotional triggers to convert. You communicate with people, not with businesses. People have emotions that play the most important role in decision-making. Plus, the more people love you, the more they recommend you.
  • Simplify everything. From message to user experience and design. The feeling that shopping at your store is as easy as brushing teeth in the morning will make the customers compare everyone else with you and return for another portion of comfort.
