19th century. Diameter: 9 inches (13 inches including handle). Height: 5.9 inches. Weight: 5.5 lbs. Copper handle. Dovetails.
This gorgeous jug was discovered at a small market, or brocante, in the heart of France. It is a wonderfully bright example, which could have been used for carrying water or other liquids. It has a sturdy copper handle to help pouring.
The copper is hammered by hand, and joint with dovetails, which are clearly visible on on the back of the vessel.
