Once your stain has dried, you’re ready to connect your pallets and create your room divider. An easy method of doing this is to lay the pallets flat on the ground with the edges you’d like joined pushed together. Place a 2×4 on the outside edge spanning both pallets and then insert screws through the 2×4 to connect the pallets. Do this on both sides of the pallets to fully secure, and your DIY room divider is complete!
Simple fabric divider
This final DIY idea is the easiest and cheapest to make, but that doesn’t mean your customers won’t love it. The key is choosing an interesting and beautiful fabric, which will be the focal point for this DIY room divider. You can thrift, reuse something you own, or head to the store to get the perfect print for this project. And though we’ve all gotten used to hanging out in sweatpants and loungewear, you’ll want to choose a fabric that is non-stretch in this case.
You’ll need: two wooden dowels (32 inches or longer), fabric, needle, and thread.
Start by cutting your fabric to the appropriate size. Choose a length that will offer good coverage when hung from the ceiling of an average home. The width should be two inches less than that of the dowel rod you’re using, so that some of the wood extends out on both sides. Once you’ve cut the fabric, lay it out flat and place the dowel rods at the top and bottom. The top dowel will be used to hang the divider, and the weight of the bottom dowel keeps it from fluttering. Fold the fabric over the rods, sew (or hot glue) it in place to create a tube, and you’re done!
