Question

Free Shipping At Specified Price

Hi - I've looked through the forum but didn't see if there was a setting to set free shipping at a specified price (like: orders over $99 get free shipping). Is that something that can be set?

Thanks,
John

There is no direct setting for that yet (we plan to add it in the future releases). You can currently achieve this by setting your products' weights equal to their prices and adding the free shipping user-defined method with weight limit e.g. 100-100000 weight units for a free shipping for orders over $100. However, it is not quite compatible with carrier calculated methods, because weights are not real with such setup, and hence the parcel total weight is calculated wrong.

That is fine if you have a few products, if you have many hundreds of products it means you have to manually change them - not an option really.
I suppose you could exports all your products - and then amend the weight - but is it really worth all the hassle of doing that IF this functionality will be coming in the next release? (That release maybe a long way off yet though)

I am looking at implementing this weight = price workaround in my store (small number of products, which makes it easier) but I also want to have a volume based discount.
This is what the plan is:

1 product = shipping charge
2 products = free shipping
3+ products = free shipping + 20% discount

The first two options can work easily enough, but for the third option, the User Defined Method percentage field won't let me enter a negative number for the percentage.

Is there a way around this... or am I stuck waiting (and hoping) that volume based shipping will appear in the next release?
Thanks...

As you may see in the Ecwid control panel, currently it is only possible to limit certain shipping methods to certain total weight ranges only. So, currently you still need to use the workaround described above to achieve the subtotal-based shipping.

However, we are currently working on a set of very major enhancements to the shipping system in Ecwid, so it will be possible soon to limit your shipping methods to some price range.

We are currently working on a set of major enhancements in the shipping settings page of Ecwid control panel, including the shipping delimited by order total levels. These changes will be released with one of the upcoming major versions of Ecwid.
