Question

Flexible shipping rate is needed when run-time calculation is enabled for EMS

The EMS is calculating now regardless to the total order price. I need override its logic to allow free shipping from some amounts.
For instance,
1) up to $300 - (standard calculation)
2) from $301 up to $400 - (standard calc - 10%)
3) greater than $400 - FREE shipping

Is it possible to configure EMS shipping like this way somehow?

Thanks.

Just create a new shipping method called "Free Shipping" which will appear when order total is more than $400.

What about the second point? The one with the discount. Is it possible?

I've just investigated your solution and it does not seem appropriate. Actually, when I use auto-calculation the system provides shipping cost AND approximated delivery date. If the custom FREE shipping is added it cannot provide the second option automatically.

Can you suggest another solution or this is impossible at the moment?

Actually when you create a new custom shipping method, you can set the delivery date for it manually. And as far as I can, you have already defined the delivery time for the two custom shipping methods in your store. Could you possibly clarify why it does not suit you?

But please note that customer will be able to select a shipping method only if the purchased products have weight specified.

I have checked your store, and as far as I can see, for the products with the weight assigned (for example, "One Life" product) the delivery time is shown.

Let me please also clarify the following: if you would like to setup EMS delivery with these costs, you should not use their carrier-calculated methods. EMS uses its own calculation rules, no way related to the order total cost. So if you would like to configure your own shipping costs, but still use EMS for the goods delivery, please be ready to face situations when the real cost of the delivery you'll need to pay to EMS will differ from the one defined in your store.

But if you would like to provide free shipping to those who make a purchase for a sum over a certain limit, you can do it with the help of discount coupons. You can create coupons for free shipping if the order total is over a certain sum. More info about discount coupons can be found here:

I understand what you're saying. But it's not the option I'm looking for. The more precise description would be as follows. I would like to use the carrier-calculated method (EMS in my case) and apply additional factor(s).

For instance, the carrier method returns $100. I'd like to multiply that value to 1.01 to add 1%. In the other case I'd like to multiply by 0 (zero). In both cases the carrier method returns approx. delivery duration which I don't enter manually. I don't want to set up duration for any possible location where my goods could be sent.

From your explanation I conclude that it's impossible now. I hope that some modifiers will be implemented to increase flexibility of the system.

A little correction...
Let's the order would be $1000
The carrier's cost to ship the order would be $100 and 2-5 days

I have more than one shipping method and would like for a specific shipping method to add 1% of the order amount to the total. This is insurance. So the total amount would be 1000 + 100 + 10 = $1110

At the moment I found that taxes can be used for this purpose. But they still have some items that can be improved to satisfy the described case:
1) They should have a type to separate factors (taxes, insurance or something else)
2) There should be a way to bind some factor (tax) to a specific shipping method (e.g, EMS has insurance, but another carrier hasn't)

I hope that will help you to introduce more flexibility to the system.
