Share your purchase: Facebook not working


Hi,

I did a test before I officially launch my store. I made two purchases (last night and today) but the "Share on Facebook" under the "Share your purchase with friends" doesn't work after both purchases. The popup window just has the error msg: "An error occurred. Please try again later." Twitter works fine.

Hi,

Thank you for reporting this issue. It looks like a bug in Facebook. We're working on finding a solution for Ecwid. I'll keep you posted as soon as any results are available.
Sorry you have to face this problem. It affects only 'Share purchase' and 'Ask your friends for advice' options, and doesn't impact any users' data or orders. While we're working on it, you may want to temporarily turn off the options in Ecwid control panel → System Settings → Social Tools. Regular Facebook like and share buttons, and other sharing tools are working.

UPDATE: our engineers confirmed that the error message was cause by a Facebook bug. So-called FB feed dialogs now work improperly on their side for some reason. We've already reported the issue to Facebook developers - hopefully they will fix it soon.

Also, we've applied temporary changes which let us overcome the issue from our side. Now, the 'Share purchase' and 'Ask your friends for advice' FB dialogs should work fine - the only difference is that they are now opened in a separate browser tab instead of a popup-like window. It could be a bit less convenient than popup but it works and lets your customer share their activity on Facebook. The popup functionality will be back as soon as Facebook fixes this issue.

We'd also like to point out that the issue hasn't affected FB likes and FB comments - they should work in your ecwid stores the same way as before. Please let us know if you face any troubles with them.

Hi,

When I click 'Share' button that appears just beside the image of my product in facebook, it is shared via my mobile version of my ecwid store. When I open that shared post using my mobile browser, it is accessible.

When I click 'Ask your friends for advice' button, it is shared through apps.facebook.com. When I open that post using my phone browser, it is not accessible. I encounter error that says that mobile version is not configured.

Please help. Thank you.

Please, let me know the link to your store from where you shared the product via 'Ask your friends for advice'.
This button is disabled in your store right now, as I can see in your simple store link: https://norahtest.ecwid.com/simple-store
I've checked this feature on my test Ecwid. The links generated by 'Ask your friends for advice' lead to the store page on mobiles. So I'll need to check it on your site. Also please specify where you open the links: in a mobile browser or in Facebook native application for mobiles?
