"Add to Bag" replacement image question

I've spent some time searching, but can't find where my specific issued was addressed.

I have read the KB instructions on how to switch out the "Add to Bag" graphic with my own, and I'm fine on that. This is where I'm confused:

1. Does my custom image have to be the same shape/pixel size?
2. Do I need to make it a "sprite," and offer two images in one .png file? Can I not just have one image that doesn't change appearance when pressed?

Thanks for any guidance on this.

If I'm not missing something:

1. No, but you'll have to resize/reposition the minicart and the elements inside (counter, link, clickable area, etc.) by adding code to your custom CSS theme.

2. You can. The second image is intended for the "Drag to bag" feature and your background image will change from top left to bottom right, so you'll only need to adjust the size values to fit your image
Code:
div.ecwid-minicart {
    width: 159px;
    height: 156px;
}
