Help Required: All variations will have unique SKU so based on the SKU for NMS0002 how would I create an import file to populate the variation for product 24539912?

Hello,

It is possible to update existing variations that have unique SKU via CSV import. It is also possible to import product options using the X-Cart format as described here:

However, it is not yet possible to create product variations using either regular CSV import or X-Cart format. Sorry. We plan to significantly improve our import tools in the future versions, there is no exact ETA though.

In your case, I'd recommend the following workarounds:
1) If there is a bunch of similar products that you need to add to your store, you can manually create one product with all necessary options and variations and then use it as a base: duplicate it using the 'Duplicate' button in your control panel and modify name/price/weight/description - all the options will be copied to a new created product automatically.
2) Import product options in bulk using X-Cart format and then create variations for each product manually.

Hello, the work around is very complicated specially when there is a need to manually modify Images, Options (color & Size), Stock and Price for every product (near 2000 Products) with 5 or 6 variation each product. Once the product variations are created then we'll have to maintain the stock manually too at least once per week. Any way we can speed up this process please using CSV files, XC, ?? direct access?

Hi,

You can update images, stock and prices for your products in bulk via CSV import as described in this article:

The same can also be done for those products variations that have unique SKU numbers. As to the product options, you can import them using X-Cart CSV format as mentioned above. Please find more details on updating options/variations in Ecwid in this post:

OK. I think I'm back to the original question from natro.

By means of CSV import, you can update existing variations that have unique SKU. It's not possible to add products or variations via CSV yet.

As to Product API, it currently allows adding products as well as modifying existing ones. However it doesn't allow adding variations at the moment. By the way, we're working on the new version of our API that will significantly extend the existing one - that new API will support adding/updating variations as well.

I tried to add the SKU Variation manually and just in a single product I found 68 different colors and 8 different sized.. so just for one SKU I have to create manually the Variations + type the SKU for each. This is practically impossible for more than 1000 products. Ecwid has a lot of PROS but this is big CONS. Anyway I'm happy with what Ecwid offers and very interested to try this new API. Please let me know once it's in place. I'll put on hold my membership for now.

Thank you for your question. The improved Product API which (beside other enhancements) will allow to update existing product variations and create new ones is in testing stage currently and will go live as soon as we make sure that it functions flawlessly and is ready to be utilized by all Ecwid users with paid accounts.
