Question

Setting up an option for ALL products?

OK I have read:

http://www.ecwid.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2142
(OK it's from some years ago...)

However this is not really good. What if I want to add a single choice to an option that applies to ALL products???

Eg. if I have 10 products and all are either RED, GREEN or BLUE. All good.
Now tomorrow I want to add YELLOW to all of them.

All I should have to do is go into the GLOBAL option called COLOUR and add a single value...
So - how is this done??
I'd be very surprised if more people haven't run into this issue...

Thanks!!

It is possible to setup product options for all products at once with help of Ecwid’s import/export tool using X-Cart’s import format.

This is how an example file with colors options in X-Cart’s format looks like:

Code:
[PRODUCT_OPTIONS]
!PRODUCTCODE;!CLASS;!TYPE;!OPTION;!PRICE_MODIFIER;!MODIFIER_TYPE
TEST00000;color;Y;red;3.99;$
;;;green;3.99;$
;;;yellow;3.99;$
Uploading this file through Catalog -> Products -> Import products button, X-Cart tab, will add red, green and yellow colors as a color option with +$3.99 price modifier for product with TEST00000 SKU.

You can replace values in the above code with product options data that you wish to upload for your products. For information on what each column represents and what values you can insert please refer to this article.

If you require any assistance with uploading product options with the import tool please let us know. Make sure to attach the CSV file that you use to upload the data so that we could assist you right away.

Thanks!!
But you realise that this is well short of the desired solution... that you can simply set-up options, then assign them at will to selected products...
How is that progressing?
I believe that this feature has been requested many times...
Thanks

For now, product options can be uploaded and updated for multiple products through Ecwid's import/export tool. Having the ability to re-apply the options that you created to selected products at once through the control panel is a more convenient way to manage the options indeed. If you feel like this feature is a must have please vote for it here: http://ideas.ecwid.com/forums/22031-...roduct-options
