e-goods email is silly

After doing a test of an e-goods item in my store, I received an email that said: Thank you for your Bette's Gallery store order! We will send you a notification email as soon as your package is shipped.
Order #9
Payment status: Paid

Since it's an e-goods order, there won't be a package. How do I keep that from happening again? As a customer, this would be very confusing. The order is paid. The order is likely already downloaded. Why get an email at all, especially about a non-existent package?

What can I do to fix this?

thanks

Go to system settings - mail - and edit the email for Download E-goods. Depending on the fact if you have activated HTML-notifications under "What's new" you either see the html code of the email or the text of the email

Thank you, WoodYouLike for your reply. Unfortunately, I only see HTML and have no idea where to find "What's New". I looked through the HTML trying to decipher what I need to edit, but can't find it.

Thanks again.

Hi,

As WoodYouLike has mentioned it, you can edit the order confirmation emails which are sent to your customers after they place an order in your store.

To edit the order confirmation email template, go to your Control panel > System settings > Mail > Order confirmation > click Edit. You can change the text of this email letter up to your liking. However, as far as I see, in your store you sell not only e-goods, but also products which require shipping. Order confirmation emails will be the same for all orders. Please, remember about that when you edit the text of the template.

Please, refer to this article for more details about mail notifications editing http://help.ecwid.com/customer/portal/articles/1777695

If you don’t want to send order confirmation emails to your customers at all, you can disable them. Go to your Control panel > System settings > Mail > Order confirmation > click the green switcher, please see the screenshot http://take.ms/E3Lrd

Feel free to contact us if you get any other questions about your Ecwid store.

As I understand, first of all you would like to change the part of the order confirmation template, which talks about "package".

When you open your order confirmation template (Control panel > System settings > Mail > Order confirmation > click Edit), you can see HTML code. There you can see that parts of the email body are defined and written in a grey colour. Please, see the screenshot http://take.ms/b86ec I have marked them with red frames. And there you can also see texts, I have marked them with blue http://take.ms/b86ec

For example, we need to change the text part with "package". We know that it is written at the beginning of email, somewhere in the header. So, we look through the names of the email body parts and find that it is included in the "Email header: end". We find the line with the text, make all the changes to this text and click Save Changes. You can also click Preview template on top of your page to see what the email will look like.

Feel free to write back if you have any other questions.
