Customer Forgot His Account Password


Hi There,

One of my customers emailed me saying: 'HELP i have forgotten by password your system tells me i cannot order as my e mail address is already in use. i cannot re set my password as you request the old one beforehand. it appears i can no longer use your site@

How do I help him to regain his password/ account?

Hello,

In order to reset the password customer doesn’t have to remember the old one. Let me show you how to do it step by step without using the previous password.

1. Open the store page and click “Sign In”:



2. In the appeared menu click “Forgot your password?” link:



3. Input your email address (password reset link will be sent to this email) and click “Reset password” button:



4. Check your mailbox. Click the link that is in the message:



5. Input your new password and click “Change password” button:



It’s done! Don’t hesitate to contact me if you need further help.

I tried to reset my password but it kept telling me password not found. When I look under my profile I have that email account. Wouldn't that be the email account to use when resetting the password?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting us.

Yes, the email that you see in Ecwid control panel > Your name in the top right corner > Profile is the email you should use when resetting your password.

To reset your password, please go to https://my.ecwid.com/cp/CP.html (logout if you are logged in), then click on 'Forgot password?' link and specify your email in the corresponding field.

Then Ecwid will send you an email containing instructions on how to reset your password.
