Is Ecwid any good for a small business?

I am helping my mother in law setup a small store to sell handmade jewelry, primarily to sell via Facebook and Instagram. She is currently only selling to friends/family as well as at the occasional trade fair. We don't currently have a website and I don't expect us to create one any time soon (feel free to tell me how wrong I am). Unless the store really takes off, the social media will primarily be used to keep local repeat customers. I have lofty goals for the business but am also realistic.

I noticed some ads for Ecwid which seemed to highlight the ability to help with order management and post new items to Facebook / Instagram (as well as some other features). But every post I've seen here has shown that it is pretty bad and not worth the time.

Is it worth getting? Of course, the fact that it's free should mean that it will always be "worth" getting but if we ever decide to scale up to the paid versions I'd like to know if we should consider something else.usps tracking showbox speed test

Hello Baisel,

It's Pixie from Ecwid team. Thanks for contacting us!

We are integrated with Facebook and Instagram, so your mother-in-law can start selling jewelry there. Moreover, you don't need to create a website since we provide all our clients with their own one-page site called Instant Site that you can use as the main storefront. You can edit its content and design. Please, check out our demo version of Instant Site: https://www.ecwid.com/demo

Guide to Ecwid Instant Site: https://support.ecwid.com/hc/en-us/a...d-Instant-Site
Editing Instant Site content: https://support.ecwid.com/hc/en-us/a...t-Site-content
Configuring Instant Site design: https://support.ecwid.com/hc/en-us/a...nt-Site-design

I'll tell you more about these integrations.

Facebook

You can upload the Ecwid product catalog to Facebook. Thus, customers will browse the products there, then they will be redirected to your main website with Ecwid to finish the order placement.

Here is an article about selling on Facebook: https://support.ecwid.com/hc/en-us/a...ng-on-Facebook

Instagram

To sell on Instagram, you should create a business page on Facebook, upload the Ecwid catalog there, then create a business profile on Instagram and connect it to the Facebook page. Also, it’s necessary to have a website with Ecwid store added.

When you follow the configuration steps, your catalog will be sent to review and the Instagram team will check it. They check catalogs totally on their end, Ecwid isn't involved in this process. Usually, it takes from a few days to a few weeks.

After getting the approval, you'll be able to tag the products in your Instagram posts. When a customer taps a product tag on your post, they will be redirected to a page with the product’s image, description, its price and a link to your website where customers will be able to buy this product.

Please note, the Facebook and Instagram integrations are available on paid plans.

You can share the products with social media for free though. Posting on social media: https://support.ecwid.com/hc/en-us/a...n-social-media

As for our plans, we have one free and three paid plans with different premium features (Venture, Business, Unlimited). Our free plan is totally free, it lets sell up to 10 products. Here is an article with Ecwid plans, their pricing and features: https://support.ecwid.com/hc/en-us/a...g-and-features

If you have any further questions, please ask.

Hi Mark!

You can use social sharing buttons to instantly share your products on Twitter.

Check out the following article: https://support.ecwid.com/hc/en-us/a...n-social-media.

Your subscribers will see product previews on Twitter and will follow the links that will take your subscribers to your store.

I hope it helps. Feel free to reach out if you have more questions.
