Showcase of my Vintage Hand-knits and original items store

My store needs some tweaking (I can't get the lavender background to work or, better yet, my white and lavender striped background, but for now, I am okay with the appearance of my shop. I do know I need better photos but a medical issue has gotten in the way of my out of doors and surrounded by nature photos I have planned. These will come down the line. I am, also, constantly developing new items (I have about 10 items in the testing and prototype stage) and I am working on lower cost items.

I thought I'd post my site to get some feedback as I am a one-woman-show and, thus, working in a bubble.

I am on Facebook and Twitter until I find a webhost I can afford that will not leave my customers with spyware and the like. I haven't seen any sales yet but I only opened my shop on 24 April, 2011. And I haven't an advertising budget yet. Need to sell a few items by word of mouth before I can do that! I have had success consigning in Brick and Mortar stores since December 2010 but as I live in British Columbia (warmer weather) my sales from this avenue are drying up. My prices are lower in my shop than my consignment
prices.

The direct link to my shop can be found here:

http://app.ecwid.com/jsp/232296/simple-store

And through Facebook, can be found here (under the products tab):

Thanks in advance for your feedback. I should note that I haven't used HTML since the mid-90s and CSS is completely new to me. I have read through many tutorials but I still cannot get the background to work at all

Its looking good. I'd probably rename the accessories "Complimentary Accessories" or "Free accessories" because at first look it just looks like you forgot to price them.

There is plenty of free solutions that allow creating a website and manage it without knowing a bit of HTML code. Ecwid will work with them without problems of course.

For example:

What background do you want to set?

Try out Yola (www.yola.com) very simple & easy. Not recommended if you require advanced functionality.

I'll check these out. Thanks!

My first choice would be a lavender and white stripe (I have an image) but my code hasn't worked using either method; as a URL image or from my harddrive. My second choice was a solid lavender(colour #ccb2ff) which did, sort of, work using the red template but I couldn't remove the red frames from my pictures and I thought this red border took focus away from the colour of the items too much (or I would have used the red template until I figured my code out).

I also struggled with my fonts.

The only thing right is my font colour. But I don't write a lot of code and it has been a long time since I have.

Like I said, I checked out numerous tutorials and toyed with "the look" of my shop for a month or more without much luck. For now, the beige template with the green font sort of suits my brand image

Please create a new thread in this section and we will be glad to help you with these changes.
