Is it possible to limit the quantity of an item that a customer can purchase? I am looking at ticket sales for a non-profit organization that has a finite number of tickets to sell, and they want to be able to limit the quantity that a customer can purchase (maximum number they can purchase is 4).

Is this possible?

It isn't possible to limit the quantity each customer can purchase. However, it's possible to limit the maximum allowed order subtotal.

In this case you can use the "Maximum allowed order subtotal" option. You will find it on the "System Settings -> General -> Cart" page.

We're running a sale on 1 product to drive traffic and we only want for people to be able to add only 1 to cart for that product.

I couldn't agree more...there needs to be a basic option to set the minimum & maximum quantity on a per product basis.

Unfortunately, there are currently no built in ways to limit product ordering per customer. You can possibly use discount coupons with "once per customer" limitation to achieve what you are asking for.

What about downloadable media? If someone by mistake clicked twice on buying a downloadable CD, they will get charged twice even though who needs 2 or more digital downloads of the same thing? We should be able to limit the downloads to 1 copy per order. Have people at ecwid not considered this?
