Honestly, I notice on a lot of support forums the staff just reads the last post.

It does not work on wordpress, I will verify that and the official response is they are working on it. They stated it was more involved than they had anticipated.

Just a quick update from Ecwid customer care team:

We continue working on the issue with SEO URLs that affects WP websites that have Ecwid store as their home page. The ticket is already in "Testing" status and the fix will be implemented within several days. We'll update this thread immediately once it is released. Please, stay tuned!

When Ecwid is added via the plugin the SEO friendly clean URLs should work fine.

Basically speaking, for all external website bulders the answer is the same — clean URLs can be enabled only by the website builder itself. If we are talking about seamless integration, one-click enablement business.

You can, of course, use the instruction for manually enabling the clean SEO URLs. Pretty sure, 1&1 support can help you with that. Here's the what the steps are:

1. Altering your Ecwid integration code

2. Configure your server: add URL rewrite rules(for this one you might have to ask the hosting provider to do that, or hire a developer)

You can either hire a developer for that, or ask the website builder to help you enable the clean SEO URLs.
