Question

Can attributes be used to show x amount of a product for a donation?

Looking at some of the conversations donations seem to be complex. Some suggestions were to add an option opt-in box to donate so many dollars which would be added to the product price. What if you do not want to add to the product but take a dollar value off the product to be donated. It looks like this can be done using "Attributes" similar to the net cost/cost price which is not shown. It would be nice if there was a way to automate the donated monies on to the charity which I cannot see a way to do that. You should be able to see/print the attribute, in this case, named donate to know how much is there to send to the charity by other means.

Look forward to some feedback on this question:

Hello,
This is Xena, Ecwid team. Thanks for your message!

As far as I understand, you're interested in setting up donations in your Ecwid store. Generally, Ecwid can be used to sell products for a set price so your customers are charged with this price and it can't be automatically divided into the actual product price and the price for donations, sorry about that.

If you set up the product price as an attribute, although it won't sum up to the actual product price, it can be used for informing your customers that the X amount included in this price is dedicated for charity.

Here is an article with more details on product attributes: https://support.ecwid.com/hc/en-us/a...and-attributes

In case you want the donation value to be taken into account on the checkout, the solution with adding a product option with price modifiers is the only way of setting it that way.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.
