Store Front Look

Using the checkout in a Wordpress site but the store front page is so ugly I want to alter how it looks, but can't find out how or what to search the Forums for.

http://www.c3tactical.co.uk/c3-stores/

Its currently awful as you can see and I'd like to be able to show some images for the categories and remove the tabs as they seem to double up and be all over the place and in no particular position.

Also if its advice like "alter the CSS to blah..." please make it more clear as to where that can be found and edited. I've had previous responses like that and they only make sense to people who know how to code the CSS page so it makes little sense to someone who doesn't know how and where to make make this edits,

Please advise.

Thanks

Patrick

Just use the ready made themes like the ones we provide: http://thematizr.com/store.html. You'll spend much more time choosing the theme you like than actually applying it.

Hello!

Well, the reason for unsatisfactory look and those tabs is the fact that two category widgets at the same time are added to that page source: horizontal categories and vertical categories widgets. So to just display images, I can suggest getting rid of both of them (they can be found in the source code of the page you’ve provided link to), on lines 210 and 213 accordingly. Since you have your website built with WordPress.org, and you use our Wordpress plugin, it creates a special page for the store - ‘Store’, you will find it in your WordPress Admin area → Pages. Open it, and start editing, then remove the category widget codes from it. Press Update button on the right column and check your store.

Altho one of them can be utilized to suit your website’s design, there’s no need to keep both of them, that’s for sure.

Now, about the design in general - we would be glad to assist you in altering the design, but to give specific answers we need specific questions. Just tell us, what element you’d like to change and how, and we shall provide you with detailed guide (or a link to one), that would help to achieve this.
Still, all the CSS changes can be made in your Ecwid control panel > System settings > Design, there you’ll need to just create new CSS theme - you’ll see an empty tab where you could insert the codes you can find throughout the forum and knowledge base.
More info can be found in this article:
http://help.ecwid.com/customer/porta...e-ecwid-design
Also, this article can be of use for troubleshooting:
http://help.ecwid.com/customer/porta...o-my-css-theme

Also, to apply simple changes you don’t really have to be familiar with CSS, for example in this thread it’s described how you can change design of certain elements:
http://www.ecwid.com/forums/showpost...16&postcount=2

And last, but not least, you can always use premade themes for Ecwid, like Thematizr.com here suggested, this would save a lot of time.

JUST BOUGHT ONE OF THE basic themes! Seemed way easier and at a great price so thanks for the tip. I do have a question about the theme though, where is best to raise that query?

Thanks Enot as well for the comprehensive reply. I will save it for future reference in case I get lost again. A quick follow up question though; my visual editing page of the Store on WP is black but the Text view shows some code;

Should this be there at all? Can I delete it if I've added the Theme to the Ecwid CSS via the Dashboard? If I'm running the plugin and a theme will they clash at all?

Thanks peeps!

Well, this part isn’t related to Ecwid, and I’d suggest keeping it: it will allow users of old browsers to see that message and therefore still view your website.

Now these are the widgets I mentioned: one for vertical and one for horizontal categories - it’s because of them the “categories” page is filled with tabs. So - I still suggest removing both of them. Or keeping just one, if you like how it would look without the extra tabs from extra widget.

This will by no means affect the theme you are going to use, it should only remove the tabs.

Default Still wrong

I just deleted those lines of code and the whole store front was empty showing no Categories at all, even from the new theme.

Prior to that with the new theme installed I still had two sets of tabs;

Do I need to delete the plugin and start again? Will that reset the issue back to normal? Im not sure what else to do.

Thanks

Hmm… Here’s what I’ve found: http://www.c3tactical.co.uk/store/
That’s the page that plugin initially created for your store, and that’s where it was really located all that time.
No tabs, just images, as was initially supposed. Am I missing something? Or is everything’s in order now?

The page, link to which you initially provided, was custom-made, and it appears that there were no product browser added there from the very beginning: just those two category widgets, and the rest of your store could be accessed from there only because choosing a category lead your customers to your primary store page, where product browser is located.

So, the easiest solution would be automatically redirect all customers from http://www.c3tactical.co.uk/c3-stores/ page to http://www.c3tactical.co.uk/store/ , or just to rename “store” page. But those are not the only ones.

So - there’s really no need to reinstall anything.
