Cool

More disclosure on your plan description

I was trying to import products as a test and received this message:

Ecwid has a limitation of 2 categories per store. Your store already has 2 categories and your import file contains 14 new categories. In order to prevent breaking a limitation your file will not be imported. To import that file, please minimize the number of categories in your store or your import file.

Now I get that I tried to import more than ten products - that was a mistake for a free store, but what's with two categories? I went back to review your pricing plans and there was no clue of a category limit for any of the plans.

I searched for "category limit" in your Knowledge Base, Forums, and Website and found an API thread, some threads from five years ago that were basically complaints about a category limit of 1000 on some plan, and another thread saying "send me the info and I will adjust your category limit."

So what's the deal? Why aren't category limits listed with the other bullets in the price comparison? In fact, where is this information listed at all?

Additionally, when I search for something your Knowledge Base, Forums, or Website, I don't want 5 year-old information that may or may not have information that is pertinent to how you operate your service today. These threads can get long and I don't want to know the history of your technical support issues.

Someone there should be reviewing these threads for redundancy and converting any constantly revisited issues into the knowledge base - and tagging them in a way that is usable. When the first result is five years old, something is not setup right in your indexing and prioritization filtering.

Ultimately, what I am looking for is an honest comparison of your various offerings - something hosting companies have been doing for decades.

And it's not just hosting services:

Okay, so I don't use any of those products or services, but that's not the point. Even when the initial comparison page is marketing oriented, a company that intends to inform you will have a "Lean more" button or link at the bottom of every plan or package.

Do you have something like that located in a place where I completely missed it? Or what? Do I have to glean answers from blogs and forum tech discussions from years gone by?

Hello,

I'm sorry for the delay with response. Here you can see the comparison table of Ecwid service plans: http://help.ecwid.com/customer/porta...ures-breakdown

Your account is currently on a Free plan. As you can see, the number of categories on a Free plan is limited to 2.

I also want to thank you for the feedback about our Community Forums. Indeed, we have to keep it up-to-date and make all the relevant information easy to find. We have recently started to clear the old irrelevant threads. Yet we have lots of work to do, since the forum exists for more than 5 years already.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. We'll be glad to help you find the answers.
