Question

Vertical categories using the Wordpress plugin?

Is it possible to get vertical categories using the Wordpress plugin?
In the plugin settings, the only options are "Show horizontal categories?", "Show search box?", and "Enable minicart attached to horizontal categories?".

Also, since the auto-generated html code from the plugin-created "Store" page uses shorthand markup (see below), adding in the <div> or <script> code for the Categories Menu Widget puts the categories menu always above or below the main store area.

<!-- Ecwid code start v0.2. Please do not remove the line below otherwise your Ecwid shopping cart will not work. -->
[ecwid_script] [ecwid_minicart] [ecwid_searchbox] [ecwid_categories] [ecwid_productbrowser]
<!-- Ecwid code end -->

Is there a solution to this, or do I have to abandon the Wordpress plugin in favor of manual integration?

Thanks,

MD

Yes, it is possible to add vertical categories easily to your Wordpress. They can be added to your blog`s sidebar.

- go to the Widgets page in your WP backend
- add the "Vertical Categories" widget and save the changes

Does this solution work for you?

Aha, I completely missed the widget area in the WP admin area itself (Appearance > Widgets, if anyone else needs to find it later). It's not quite the 100% out-of-the-box solution I was hoping for since I'll have to turn off the sidebar on non-store pages, but this will work.

Thanks for the help!

You can hide this widget on non-store pages using this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/section-widget/

Is there a way to change the font size vertical categories? When I add that widget the text is large and runs off the page.

How do you get started using the Wordpress Section Widget plugin? I installed it but don't see any new options when I add a widget to my blog sidebar. It's showing up on all posts and pages as usual.
