Remove or shorten Vertical category lines but keep text size

How can I shorten (or hide if I can't shorten) the bars/rules under the vertical category entries? I don't want to reduce the text size, my categories are short words and the text gets too small. It seems like there should be a % or margin or span phrase that would take care of it, but I can't find it.

Ediit: this fix hides the lines, though it does not remove them:
http://www.ecwid.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10166

and this tightens up the vertical spacing
http://www.ecwid.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3751

...but I can find NO way to shorten that bar, nor even what it is called. Inspecting it with aardvark I only find 'vertical-table-cell'. If anyone has the mojo to shorten the length of those rules, that would be great to know.

The solution provided in http://www.ecwid.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10166 really hides the separators, and actually when making the border width zero you move the menu items closer together, plus the solution from http://www.ecwid.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3751 puts them yet closer. Could you possibly clarify what you mean by "this fix hides the lines, though it does not remove them"? In terms of CSS code the rule remains, but the border is visually removed. Please clarify why such a removal does not suit you.

As for the border shortening - please let us know what the final result should be. How excatly short would you like the border to be? A screenshot demonstrating the desired look of the menu would be of great help.

I have run into the same problem so I'm asking here too. I like the size of my side-bar menu text but the separator lines are running "into" the area for the products, actually crossing the "drag to bag" frame when it's visible. How do I shorten those lines, please?

You can see my problem here:

Thanks!

Please add the following CSS rule to Ecwid control panel -> System Settings -> Design -> CSS Themes:

Code:
td.ecwid-categories-vertical-table-cell table.ecwid-categories-vertical-table-cell-categoryLink {
margin: 10px 6px;
}

div.ecwid-categories-vertical td.gwt-MenuItem {
padding: 0px 40px 0px 11px;
}
click "Save (Ctrl+S)" and let me know if you like the result.

Smile Problems solved - thank you!

Your setting was still a bit too long (though no longer infringing on the "drag to bag" border. However, I fixed it to my liking by setting the "padding" from 40px to 5 px.

div.ecwid-categories-vertical td.gwt-MenuItem {
padding: 0px 5px 0px 11px;
}

I'll play around a bit more to see how different settings on these look.
Thank you so much - you've definitely solved it for me!
