Paypal IPN - Can anyone clarify please?

I have recently set up a new store and followed the instructions in the Knowledge base to set up Paypal Standard.

Paypal then sent me the following message:

This email is to inform you that you have successfully enabled Payment Data Transfer.

PDT's primary function is to display payment transaction details to buyers when they are redirected back to your site upon payment completion. However, there are cases, such as with pending transactions, where you won't receive notification of all transactions. For this reason, PayPal strongly recommends that you also enable Instant Payment Notification (IPN).

To learn more about enabling and setting up IPN:

https://www.paypal.com/gr/cgi-bin/?c...-intro-outside

To learn more about Payment Data Transfer, including setup instructions and a complete list of variables:

https://www.paypal.com/gr/cgi-bin/?c...-intro-outside

The link goes to a 20 something page PDF!!! Has anyone come across any instructions in the Ecwid knowledge base that explains it in 1 page?

Thanks
Ali

Hi,

Actually it isn't necessary to read all these 20-pages PDFs : -) We already did it and integrated Ecwid with PayPal. So now, you should just follow the steps described in this article: http://kb.ecwid.com/w/page/15853304/...PayPalStandard and your PayPal payment method will be set up correctly and ready for sales.

I followed your wonderful instructions already thanks. So as long as I entered my store Id then I guess all should be well. I can ignore the paypal message then. Good. Thought I was missing something else.

Yes, exactly. Our instruction contains only the "technical" steps you need to take to start selling using PayPal. All other things are behind the scene and handled by Ecwid and our team.
