Hello,

thank you for reaching out.

I assume that you have tried to upload the gallery images in bulk with the help of Bulk Gallery Upload application.

As you know, it requires creating a CSV file. Is it possible to have a look at the file you have uploaded? You can attach it to the forum post here.

Perhaps, the file was incorrectly formatted that caused the image upload failure.

Thank you!

yes, I am using the bulk gallery upload app and I am a paid customer. The CSV file parsed correctly. Giving this:

Pick well-formed .TSV/.CSV file:
Browse: Gallery Uplaod 101515.csv ×
.TSV/.CSV parsing complete. Data rows parsed: 94603 (no errors).

Gallery Uplaod 101515.csv parsed:
Found 94603 gallery images with 94603 titles,
for 11238 unique products (by "product_id" binding).

It then began parsing the zip file and gave me this:

Pick .ZIP file with images (required!):
Browse: img_prod_XL2015Q2.zip ×
.ZIP parsing complete. Images parsed: 40943

img_prod_XL2015Q2.zip conform errors:
Some CSV gallery images missing in ZIP (71009):
row 1 - gallery_image: "10-423-1176_lg.jpg" for product_id: 41480429, name: "undefined"
row 2 - gallery_image: "10-423-1176_md.jpg" for product_id: 41480429, name: "undefined"
row 3 - gallery_image: "10-423-1176_sm.jpg" for product_id: 41480429, name: "undefined"
row 5 - gallery_image: "13-270-1000 (2)_LG.jpg" for product_id: 55703082, name: "undefined"

etc, etc, and then this at the end:

row 94597 - gallery_image: "99-615-1026(small-reverse)_SM.jpg" for product_id: 41507802, name: "undefined"
row 94600 - gallery_image: "99-615-1026_LG.jpg" for product_id: 41507802, name: "undefined"
row 94601 - gallery_image: "99-615-1026_MD.jpg" for product_id: 41507802, name: "undefined"
row 94602 - gallery_image: "99-615-1026_SM.jpg" for product_id: 41507802, name: "undefined"

img_prod_XL2015Q2.zip conformed:
Found 23594 gallery images
for 11228 unique products (by "product_id" binding)

Do you think it is the number of images? I just did it again this morning and am letting it sit in case it is still uploading files. All I know is that none of the galleries uploaded on the last try.

Suggestions?

Thank you for these details.

I will pass them to the app developers. I hope they will be able to determine, why the gallery images were not uploaded. I will provide an update as soon as I hear from them.

so far nothing has changed on the screen. Is something supposed to come up saying the pictures were uploaded successfully?

I have emailed the app developer and asked him to assist with this issue. I will post his suggestions here, as soon as I hear back from him.

I suppose, there should be some kind of a notice for a successful upload. I am sorry that I can't assist you directly as I am not quite familiar with the inside interface of the app.

While we are waiting for the developer's resolution, I will install the app and run some tests to check how the successful import should be processed.

Hello,

I have just heard from the app developer and here's what he thinks.

Quote:
Gallery Upload 101515.csv parsed:Found 94603 gallery images with 94603 titles,for 11238 unique products (by "product_id" binding).
This message means that the CSV file contains 94603 lines and they are properly formatted.

Quote:
Browse: img_prod_XL2015Q2.zip × .ZIP parsing complete. Images parsed: 40943
This message indicates that the zip archive contains 40943 images, which is half as much as declared in the CSV file.

Quote:
img_prod_XL2015Q2.zip conform errors: Some CSV gallery* images missing in ZIP* (*71009*)
When comparing the CSV file and the zip archive, the application detects that many image files are missing in the archive.

All in all, the app can't find 71009 images. Most likely, the archive is not only missing some images, but also contains some unnecessary files or some files are titled differently, than specified in the archive. That's why the total number of missing files is 71009, not 53660 (94603 - 40943).

When the app detects any errors, it won't upload anything and that's why you do not see any uploaded gallery images.

Still, he'd like to check the CSV file and the zip archive to make sure, that the files are missing or differently titled indeed and the problem is not related to a bug in the app.

Can you please upload your zip archive and the CSV file to file hosting (Dropbox or something else) and provide me with public links to them? I will forward the links to the developer and he will look into the contents of the file and the archive.

Ok, I cleaned it up and the result follows. I tried to do the bulk upload once reaching this point by clicking the button (with and without deleting the current galley image option) and it basically locked up. I let it run for about 20 hours and nothing ever changes. I did do a small number of images (100) and it did upload and finish so I know the app will work.
What is the maximum number of images that should be uploaded at one time. Is there an optional field (maybe an image url instead of trying to upload from the zip file?) that could be employed?

App version: 0.2.3

Automate product gallery image upload with next steps:

1 Pick well-formed .TSV/.CSV/.TXT file:
Browse: Gallery Upload 102015 - tab.csv ×
.TSV/.CSV parsing complete. Data rows parsed: 12381 (no errors).

Gallery Upload 102015 - tab.csv parsed:
Found 12381 gallery images with 12381 titles,
for 4626 unique products (by "product_id" binding).

2 Pick .ZIP file with images (required!):
Browse: img_prod_XL2015Q2.zip ×
.ZIP parsing complete. Images parsed: 40943

img_prod_XL2015Q2.zip conformed:
Found 12381 gallery images
for 4626 unique products (by "product_id" binding)

3 Set options and import gallery images:

Delete existing galleries before import

Thank you for the update.

I assume, that the CSV file was parsed correctly and contained 12381 rows. The same number of images was conformed in the ZIP archive, but the gallery images import was still unsuccessful. Is that so?

The developer of Bulk Gallery upload application requires a CSV file and the ZIP archive for checking their contents. If you can't share a ZIP archive in full, is it possible to provide me with a list of its images?

If you don't want to share the links in public, I can send you a private email.

You are correct. It found 12381 rows in the CSV. The 12381 images referenced in each line were found in the ZIP file that contained 40943 images in total. It passed Step 1 and Step 2 of the Bulk Gallery Upload.

I know the app works because I made a CSV file that contained only the first 100 items and used the exact same ZIP file and the upload was successful.

The size of the ZIP file in particular is very large, 2.2 Gig. So sending it would take a bit of effort.

The question is very simple. With such a large number of images to upload (12381), I seem to have broken the app by reaching some limit of its capabilities. I am more than happy to work with the developer to fix this. He can reach me a 434-978-3764.
