Do users have to sign in to checkout?

I'm new to ecwid and I'm not sure I want my customers to have to sign in at all during checkout.

I'm using ecwid only for my facebook store and not my official store so I wondered if someone could help me out and explain the pros of having users sign in during checkout?

Otherwise I may skip this functionality all together

No there is no need for a client to sign in. Check your Ecwid System Settings: General -> Cart -> scroll down to check-out settings, untick "Require customers to create accounts on checkout"
