Products page SKU # can it be changed manually?

I want to make all the products in each shop's SKU # synchronized. Please let me know if this can be done.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Yes, Ecwid allows to change products SKU manually. In order to change product SKU you should go to Ecwid control panel → Catalog → Products → Product modify page, find "SKU" field and change value as needed.

You can speed up this process and don't modify each product separately from Ecwid control panel. In order to do this you should:
1. Export all your products to CSV file:
- Go to Ecwid control panel → Catalog → Products
- Click 'Export All' button in the end of the products list.
- Choose fields, which will be exported. In your case "product name" and "SKU" fields will be enough.
- Click 'Download CSV file' and save it on your computer

2. Open CSV file containing the list of your products using Excel, Google Docs, etc.
3. Find 'SKU' column there and change all SKUs values as you need.
4. Save edited CSV file
5. Import product with prices in euro to your new store:
- Go to Ecwid control panel → Catalog → Products
- Click 'Import products..' button
- Choose edited CSV file, stored on your computer
- Click 'Import' button

Once you do this all product SKUs will be changed according to CSV file.

We are in process of reorganizing and increasing our inventory which upon careful thought has brought us to realize that we may need to reorder our SKUs for a better fit. If we choose to export our entire current inventory and make changes to both the SKU and product name, upon import will the proper product be changed accordingly based on the product ID alone? It appears that 'name' 'sku' or 'product_id' are the only columns capable of matching which product is being modified upon import, therefore as long as one of these columns remains unchanged it should be successful, is this correct?

Is it feasible to simply remove all products and import entire inventory in one instance, please explain what might be lost in this process as we would still keep intact all current export options possible? However, new products would not have a product_id therefore we would leave this blank, correct? Also, it appears we would lose bulk discount pricing. What about products with more than 3 categories or more than 1 photo? Will global options for tax and shipping remain intact with import? Would we lose our related products settings and if yes then is there a quick way to modify these settings without going through each product one by one? By the way it would be nice if we could select multiple categories for related products, but hopefully our reorganized inventory should allow quick work of this. Also allowing sorting by range of SKUs would be helpful too. Thanks.

Hello,

Ecwid uses SKU field as an unique identifier of product during import. If SKU field is absent in the original import-file, Product Name field will be used instead.

During import Ecwid reads uploaded for import file line-by-line and decides what action should be taken. If the product with SKU from the file was found in your Ecwid store then all info for this item will be uploaded (according to the records in file). Otherwise, new product with this SKU will be created.

Thus, if you export products from your store into CSV file, change SKU values in it and import it back the following consequences are possible:
- If all products' SKUs will be changed to another ones, additional products list will be created.
- If you change SKU values between products, information from one product will be written into another products. As a result, new product will contain new value for fields that were included in CSV file and old values for other fields that were not updated or just can't be transferred using export/import functionality (like related products list or images gallery).

You can try this method, if your products don't contain the info that can't be exported/imported. Nowadays, Ecwid can't import following product info - attributes (except UPC and Brand), bulk discount pricing, options/variation, gallery images, uploaded files list & related products list. All this info will be lost, if you delete current products list and import new one from the changed file.

Yes, you are right. Bulk discounts as well as more than 3 categories list won't be transferred after reimporting.

Products reimporting will not affect global taxes and shipping settings.

If you have any questions, please, feel free to ask.
