As for the first request. To help you with that, I need to understand what exact background you want to alter. The thing is, the code you are trying to use can be related to a different part of the store, not the one you actually want to change. Thus it can be a reason why it doesn't work.
Consequently, please send me a screenshot of what you want to change, and I'll be happy to help you adjust it. The link to your store page would extremely useful as well, as I was not able to find it in your Ecwid's profile.
