One early morning, members of the Ecwid team were having breakfast in our office together. The conversation turned to talk of productivity. It turned out that people on the Ecwid team have quite a few lifehacks for working better and saving time.

Do you want to get rid of a constant “need for sleep” feeling? Do you know you could do more in a day if it weren’t for permanent annoying distractions? Is your workflow suffering from a lack of optimization?

Here are the best of our hacks to help you get on top of these everyday pains.

Morning Tips

How do we survive the mornings? Together! Use these tips to alleviate early morning problems and to develop your concentration.

How to get up early? My answer is… Twitter! As soon as your alarm makes its first noise, grab your phone and open up your Twitter feed. Tweets are short, easy to understand, and plentiful; they start your brain at once. But to use this trick, choose who you follow carefully—you don’t want tons of trash rushed on you every morning, do you?

A glass of water—that’s what makes me start a day. You just drink that glass every morning 20 minutes before breakfast and it starts your body. You don’t feel tired or sleepy anymore, and if you have troubles making yourself eat breakfast, you will forget that.

To be the first at anything in your life, be the first to get up. Yes, it’s probably the hardest habit to train, but when you are an early bird, you more time and peace to focus on your plans. Twenty minutes spent at a coffee cup alone when everyone else is dreaming can give you a lot of positive momentum.

I’m a real foodie and I get up early only when I prepare something tasty for breakfast the day before. The thought of having pancakes with jam, waffles, or some sandwiches there in the fridge won’t let me stay in bed for long. Some smart guys have even invented an alarm clock that makes coffee to wake you up. I’m a huge fan of this idea.

Optimize Your Routine

Eugene, Product Manager

To be more productive means to complete more tasks in the same amount of time. To do this, you need to be able to focus. Here’s my trick: never open your email before you make a plan for the day. As soon as you peep into your email, your attention is broken to million little pieces and you start grabbing tasks with no order. Don’t let emails tell you what to do. Leave a gap in your list for 1-2 urgent tasks that may appear after reading emails, and follow the list step by step.

Jessie, Marketing Manager

I’m a little more old-school, so I always pay attention to sorting out my emails. This is really helpful: try to have zero unread emails by the end of every day and you’ll see how much time you save. As for me, I can never actually get it to zero, but I’m trying to keep the number under 10.

Jeff, Partner Marketing Manager

Morning gym is a cool thing! If you can afford to spend an hour or so doing sports in the morning, don’t miss the opportunity. Productivity just jumps up together with you. This is also a good way to stop oversleeping—you get up early, you go to bed earlier. There’s no time for late night TV shows. That’s what a DVR is for!

Get Smart Help

A messaging app Slack is perfect for team communication. It lets you keep in touch with every member of your team in private talks or group chats. Also, it’s very handy to exchange various files with its drag-and-drop functionality. We use it at Ecwid a lot! Slack saves tons of time due to its convenient interface, desktop notifications, and the opportunity to connect social channels.

For example, you can integrate Slack with Twitter and get all the notifications and other activity on the special channel. You can attract everyone to any discussion using the tag @here or call for several people tagging just them. Everything in Slack—messages, notifications, files, and all—is automatically indexed and archived so that you can have it at your fingertips whenever you want. And—you can use Slack from any device you have there!

How many times have you forgotten your password in the heat of the moment? Once it happens, you’re forever reluctant to create a safe and long one in fear to forget it. Personally, I have never enjoyed choosing between a safe and difficult password and the one that won’t take half an hour to guess. With 1Password, this is no longer a problem. It doesn’t just save passwords, it can create passwords that are tremendously secure, far from “qwerty” or “12345”. The icing on the cake is that you even don’t have to type them! 1Password logs you in with a single click.

CoSchedule helps us a lot on our way to managing Ecwid blog and social media. It’s our discovery of the year. It’s super easy to plan and publish content, communicate with team members, set deadlines, and get more shares and likes. I can’t imagine my life without it now. So recommend to everyone who write blogs and publish on WordPress.

Conclusion

Reforms are better than a revolution. So change your life gradually and these improvements won’t hurt your comfort. These daily habits can help you to spend time wisely, to work with pleasure and to achieve your goals. We wish you productivity, great ideas and huge sales!

Happy New Year!
