Good news for everyone who wants an easy and simple way to accept credit cards online. Ecwid supports Stripe payment gateway now. This payment method is available for all Ecwid merchants.

Ecwid + Stripe

Why Stripe is great for Ecwid merchants

The idea behind Ecwid is simple. We want to provide the easiest and fastest way to launch an online store and remove all possible pain points during this process. No more complex installations: just add a few lines of JavaScript code to any existing website and your online store will appear there. No more messing with code: we handle all the technical things, from upgrades to performance. You even don’t need to invest any money to validate your awesome ideas: you can use free Ecwid plan with a free Facebook page to start selling online.

Payments are an essential part of any online store and usually setting up a payment gateway is quite a painful and time-consuming process. Historically you would get a merchant account in a bank, get approved, set up a payment gateway, etc. and it can take several days to finish the whole process. Stripe solves this problem. It provides a really easy and fast way to start accepting credit cards online. You just create a new Stripe account, fill up a short form and start accepting live transactions immediately. You can find more info about Stripe on their website, FAQ and support portal.

How to enable Stripe in your Ecwid store

You can enable Stripe in 3 simple steps.
1. First of all please log in to your Ecwid control panel and open the “System Settings — Payment” page. Then select the “Stripe” option in the “Payment processor” column of the “Credit Card” payment method. A popup with Stripe settings will appear.

2. Click the “Connect with Stripe” button and you will be redirected to the Stripe website. Fill up a form with your business details or just authorize our application if you already have a Stripe account.
At this moment Stripe is available for businesses based in the United States, Canada, the UK or Ireland. They are also available in private beta for businesses in Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, The Netherlands and Spain.

3. Enable the “Credit card” payment option in Ecwid and save the changes.

That’s all! You are ready to accept payments with Stripe!

We are very excited about supporting Stripe in Ecwid. It aligns perfectly with the Ecwid vision to allow our merchants to launch faster and without additional hassles. It looks like our merchants like it as well!

Stay tuned for more updates. We released a bunch of new stuff recently (like “Customer Groups” feature) and are eager to tell about them. Merry Christmas!
