Why You Should Care About Having a Mobile-Friendly Store

If you weren’t already convinced that you need to have a mobile-friendly storefront, then check out these stats. Using data from all Ecwid stores we analyzed the growing number of consumers who shop from their mobile devices with our small business merchants: in the last three quarters, orders placed through a mobile device has steadily grown from 25% in Q3 2014, 26% in Q4 2014, to 27% in Q1 2015  and it’s only expected to rise as more and more people around the world acquire access to smartphones and tablets and use them to purchase items online.

Your customers continue to rely on their mobile devices for more than just a way to communicate with other people. Nearly a third of purchases on stores powered by Ecwid were made by consumers shopping through their mobile device!

Moreover, the importance of having a mobile-friendly site is even greater now that Google has taken this into consideration for ranking sites for web searches done through mobile devices. Basically, what this means is that when your customers (or potential customers) search for products that you may offer on their phone, unless your site is recognized as being “mobile-friendly”, then your site may not rank as high or at all. This is vitally important as consumers continue to show preference for shopping through their mobile device over their desktops.
