Hello,
I am having the same problem as the original poster of this thread.
When a customer enters a billing address that is in a different country from the shipping address, Paypal won't allow the order to be processed.
It returns the following error:

I have had customers try to work around it by using both paypal accounts and credit payments (through paypal), and I have also tried myself but each attempt has the same outcome.

Please can you talk through how to implement the workaround that was hinted above? Will this sort out my problem?

many thanks...

2. It think, we can implement a solution to avoid this PayPal restriction. However, it will allow doing the following:

- a customer enters a shipping/billing address in your store
- Ecwid redirects him to PayPal
- on the PayPal side, if his/her address is incorrect, the customer will not see an error message. However, he/she will be able to change his/her shipping address to another one, so, there will be two different addresses: in Ecwid and in PayPal.

I gave up trying to use Paypal for this situation because the terms and conditions of usage for Paypal just doesn't allow goods to be shipped to an address with a different country from the billing address (it's their way of minimizing fraud). I didn't want to be in violation of Paypal's terms and conditions, because they can suspend your account in the future due to this.

Perhaps you can try exploring a different payment option instead of Paypal that allows goods to be shipped to a country that is different from the billing address, for example, 2Checkout.com. Otherwise use the Send Money feature from Paypal instead, it's not the best solution and your customers need to set up a Paypal account for that, but it's a possible workaround.

While we are looking for ways to overcome the limitation of PayPal from our side, we can suggest to use alternative payment methods such as Google Checkout (available for each Ecwid account).

Sorry to bump an old thread but I am having a similar issue. A few of my customers would like their items shipped to an address that is not in the same country as their billing address. When they check out the get the following error:

"paypal does not allow your country of residence to ship to the country you wish to"

I understand this is a paypal safety feature, but I would like to bypass it some how. Is there some way for ecwid not to pass along the shipping address to paypal? I understand that any orders placed would have 2 shipping addresses, one in the Ecwid system and one in the paypal system. I am okay with that.

This has been solved a long time ago. Just enable the "Allow customers to change their shipping address on PayPal site" option in your PayPal payment method account details:

Then your customers may use different shipping and billing addresses.

Hi Eugene,

Just for clarifications, the only way for paypal to gain the billing address (of the customer) instead of the shipping address they would have to input their billing address again on Paypal? So basically the customer would have to type in their billing address twice? Once for Ecwid and again for Paypal (if their billing address is different from their shipping address)?

Is there any other way to work around this problem? Because we don't want to have our customers type their billing address twice, and we're planning on launching our shop this week so we really need to get this problem fixed.

Any help is gladly appreciate.

Thanks

Hello,

PayPal doesn't allow to send pre-populated separate shipping and billing addresses. It accepts only one address in their payment messages (Ecwid sends customer shipping address to PayPal). PayPal then populates that address as both shipping and billing. We cannot tell PayPal from our side how exactly to use the address we initially send, PayPal decides that on its own.

If a customer's billing address differs from their shipping address, they will need to enter it separately on PayPal side. If they have PayPal account, PayPal will likely suggest previously saved addresses from their PayPal address book. If they doesn't, they will need to enter billing address manually.
