Default Inline SEO, Duplicate Pages

I found that I have more than one page for each of my products. Depending on how I find the item (ie using the menu items vs search box), I come up with more than one page URL. Also, I notice I have "shop" pages, which you would find if you just went to my website and started browsing the products (www.premiumhomeinterior.com/shop....) and then there are the "index" pages (www.premiumhomeinterior.com/index....), which is I am assuming the Inline SEO. Please correct me if that assumption is not right.

For example, these are duplicate pages for the same item:

http://premiumhomeinterior.com/shop....

http://premiumhomeinterior.com/shop....

http://premiumhomeinterior.com/shop....

http://premiumhomeinterior.com/index...

http://premiumhomeinterior.com/index...

My questions is:

1) Can you get rid of having all the duplicate pages and only have one page without ruining the Inline SEO? Which I'm not even sure why google reads the index pages and not the shop pages? You will notice if you click on my first link that I successfully added a page title (I also added a meta description, but you can't see it). I want to have only one URL per item with the page title.

2) When I google "emerson carerra bella cf452bs premium home interior" I see a few listings from my website. Only the mobile version looks how I want it to look, with an accurate page title and product description. Why do only two of these five URLS I have listed above show up on google. The URL I have with a page title/meta description that I added isn't one that shows up.

I'd really appreciate your advice.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello,

I've inspected your site. The issue with duplicate pages is caused by the configuration of your Joomla installtaion. Please read the details below.

Your store is actually available via two URLs:
http://premiumhomeinterior.com/index...
http://premiumhomeinterior.com/shop.html

The second one is most likely an alias of the first one. In other words, it is actually the same page with two names (URLs). Since your store is installed on this page (by RokEcwid plugin), the both URLs display your products and Inline SEO catalog works on the both. Google indexes the pages generated by Inline SEO Catalog in your store - so it has indexed the both groups of URLs: the ones that starts with 'shop.html' and the ones that starts with 'index.php?option=com_rokecwid'. Google doesn't look at the URL part after hash tag ('#'), thus only two of the five URLs you mentioned are actually unique and matter to Google.

So, the whole duplicate pages issue on your site is about two mentioned groups of pages. 'shop.html' address is set as an alias for 'index.php?option=com_rokecwid' in in the article settings in your Joomla administrator panel. Such settings are actually not related to the Inline SEO Catalog anyhow. Even if you disable Inline SEO, 'index.php?option=com_rokecwid' pages won't disappear.

In order to fix the issue, you will need to 'hide' the 'index.php?option=com_rokecwid' pages from Google somehow. You can consider one of the following solutions:
  • Set automatic redirects from 'index.php?option=com_rokecwid' pages to the corresponding shop.html ones. That can be done by means of creating special rules in the '.htaccess' file on your server.
  • Leave the URLs configuration without changes but change the code of Inline SEO Catalog so that it will always generate links like 'shop.html?<parameters>' even if a visitor opens an 'index.php?option=com_rokecwid<parameters>' page.
  • Disallow search engines to index the 'index.php?option=com_rokecwid' pages on your web site using the robots.txt file. In order to do it you will need to create such a file, add particular instructions to it and place it in the top-level directory of your web server. All respectable robots will follow the directives in a robots.txt file.

Please let me know if you have any question.
