Inline SEO, Duplicate Pages

I found that I have more than one page for each of my products. Depending on how I find the item (ie using the menu items vs search box), I come up with more than one page URL. Also, I notice I have "shop" pages, which you would find if you just went to my website and started browsing the products (www.premiumhomeinterior.com/shop....) and then there are the "index" pages (www.premiumhomeinterior.com/index....), which is I am assuming the Inline SEO. Please correct me if that assumption is not right.

For example, these are duplicate pages for the same item:

http://premiumhomeinterior.com/shop....

http://premiumhomeinterior.com/shop....

http://premiumhomeinterior.com/shop....

http://premiumhomeinterior.com/index...

http://premiumhomeinterior.com/index...

My questions is:

1) Can you get rid of having all the duplicate pages and only have one page without ruining the Inline SEO? Which I'm not even sure why google reads the index pages and not the shop pages? You will notice if you click on my first link that I successfully added a page title (I also added a meta description, but you can't see it). I want to have only one URL per item with the page title.

2) When I google "emerson carerra bella cf452bs premium home interior" I see a few listings from my website. Only the mobile version looks how I want it to look, with an accurate page title and product description. Why do only two of these five URLS I have listed above show up on google. The URL I have with a page title/meta description that I added isn't one that shows up.

I'd really appreciate your advice.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello,

I've inspected your site. The issue with duplicate pages is caused by the configuration of your Joomla installtaion. Please read the details below.

Your store is actually available via two URLs:
http://premiumhomeinterior.com/index...
http://premiumhomeinterior.com/shop.html

The second one is most likely an alias of the first one. In other words, it is actually the same page with two names (URLs). Since your store is installed on this page (by RokEcwid plugin), the both URLs display your products and Inline SEO catalog works on the both. Google indexes the pages generated by Inline SEO Catalog in your store - so it has indexed the both groups of URLs: the ones that starts with 'shop.html' and the ones that starts with 'index.php?option=com_rokecwid'. Google doesn't look at the URL part after hash tag ('#'), thus only two of the five URLs you mentioned are actually unique and matter to Google.

So, the whole duplicate pages issue on your site is about two mentioned groups of pages. 'shop.html' address is set as an alias for 'index.php?option=com_rokecwid' in in the article settings in your Joomla administrator panel. Such settings are actually not related to the Inline SEO Catalog anyhow. Even if you disable Inline SEO, 'index.php?option=com_rokecwid' pages won't disappear.

In order to fix the issue, you will need to 'hide' the 'index.php?option=com_rokecwid' pages from Google somehow. You can consider one of the following solutions:
  • Set automatic redirects from 'index.php?option=com_rokecwid' pages to the corresponding shop.html ones. That can be done by means of creating special rules in the '.htaccess' file on your server.
  • Leave the URLs configuration without changes but change the code of Inline SEO Catalog so that it will always generate links like 'shop.html?<parameters>' even if a visitor opens an 'index.php?option=com_rokecwid<parameters>' page.
  • Disallow search engines to index the 'index.php?option=com_rokecwid' pages on your web site using the robots.txt file. In order to do it you will need to create such a file, add particular instructions to it and place it in the top-level directory of your web server. All respectable robots will follow the directives in a robots.txt file.

Please let me know if you have any question.

Hello-
I am not seeing new products appear in Google searches, so I visited the Webmaster Tools page for our website. There is a section for:
HTML Improvements / Duplicate title tags
of which I am seeing the following list as duplicates:

/webstore.php
/webstore.php?_escaped_fragment_=/~/category/id=7143647%26offset=0%26sort=nameAsc
/webstore.php?_escaped_fragment_=/~/category/id=7143653%26offset=0%26sort=nameAsc

/webstore.php?_escaped_fragment_=/~/product/id=30979144
/webstore.php?_escaped_fragment_=/~/product/id=30979159

So my 2 questions are:
1) What does this mean?
2) Is my php file setup correctly? I am using Adobe Muse for our website generation, so I followed the CUSTOM SITE instructions for AJAX indexing, Inline SEO Cataloging and auto-generating of the page title.

Thanks for any advice.

Default new store items not appearing in Google

hello-
I added some new products a couple of weeks ago, but they are still not appearing in Google search.

New Item example: link

Google Site search for item above: link

As a matter of fact I am do not believe I am getting many good search results at all. Can my store code please be reviewed? I followed the SEO steps for "custom built" site since i used Adobe Muse.

Hello,

Thanks a lot for your message!

The duplicates might be caused by the fact that you are using an old version of the Google AJAX indexing script for Ecwid. Please find a new version of the script here: http://help.ecwid.com/customer/porta...

Please keep in mind that this script needs to be customized before it can be applied to your site.

You can carry out this customization yourself or hire a developer. You can hire any developer you wish; we can recommend Qualiteam (sales@qtmsoft.com), they have great experience in various e-commerce sites customizations, which include Ecwid stores.

I feel confident in saying I am not using the "old" indexing. If you look at the source code for my website, it clearly has the PHP coding:

<?php
$ecwid_store_id = 2942185;
include_once "http://www.litsco.com/ecwid_ajax_indexing.php";
if (!isset($_GET['_escaped_fragment_'])) {
echo '<meta name="fragment" content="!" />';
}
?>

Hello,

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply!

There is a simple way to check if your script is functioning correctly: to change the #! in your product URL to ?_escaped_fragment_= and disable Javascript in your browser. If the script is correct, you will see an HTML-version of the page.

When I make these changes on your page URL, it does not show the HTML-version (see the screenshot: http://take.ms/MTjFO), which means that there are some errors in your script.

You can hire a developer to correct these errors or do it yourself.

Why are there errors, if i copy/paste the code directly from your setup webpage?

Hello,

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply!

Regarding the script, there are no errors in the script itself, it works flawlessly. The script containing errors mentioned above is just a sample script which you need to change according to your store settings, and add to your site so that your store could be indexed by search engines.

Please refer to this article for details:
http://help.ecwid.com/customer/porta...

As you are not Wordpress, Drupal or Joomla user, you need to integrate a custom script on your server. If you are not sure you can change the script according to your needs, you can hire a developer to do it.
Alternatively you may want to move your site to Wordpress or Joomla, Ecwid plugin for Wordpress already has this script integrated and you do not have to customize anything.
