Ecwid v4.1 has been released

Posted 15 June, 2010 by Qetzal. Posted in Ecwid News, New Releases

A new minor version of Ecwid (v4.1) has been released. It has some interesting improvements worth mentioning.

JavaScript code splitting

The Javascript code of your Ecwid store isn’t loaded as one large file anymore. It’s automatically split into smaller files which your browser loads simultaneously and much more efficiently. This will improve the load time of your store, especially on slow Internet connections.

Content Delivery Network for CSS and Javascript

CSS and JavaScript code is distributed to several different servers around the world. When customers open your store, they will be directed to the closest server which will noticeably speed up the download time for CSS and JavaScript code. So for example, if a customer is from the US – the files will be downloaded from a server located in the US. If they are from Europe, a European server will be used instead. This technology will significantly speed up the load time of your store.

Note: This feature is available to all types of Ecwid accounts, however Paid accounts will be able to use Content Delivery Network for product images as well as CSS and Javascript code.

Our Facebook application can add product tabs to fan pages

So now you can turn your Facebook page into a sales tool.

Two new built-in storefront translations: Croatian and Brazilian Portuguese

Thank you Darko and Fabio for your help. Now Ecwid has 7 built-in translations and 20 translations overall.
If you’d like to add your language to our list of built-in translations, refer to these instructions.

Also

  • It is easier to customize the look of the “list view” product mode, breadcrumbs and shipping method names now. Also you can customize loading image and effects, which appear when you load Ecwid or browse its pages.
  • You can create transparent product thumbnails.
  • New %paymentInstructions% mail tag was added. You can use it to add specific payment instructions to your order notifications.
  • The logic of shipping zones selection was updated slightly. This change should not affect any existing behavior, zones or shipping rates, but please refer to our article for a description of how the zones work now.

"Our Facebook application can add product tabs to fan pages."
    Please clarify.
Is this a new feature of the Facebook app or is it the same protocol of using Static FBML?

Please build in an "I agree" function at the checkout, then we could use your fantastic shop and refer it to others.
I don't understand, why you've created such a good shop and do not build in a basic function like this until yet. Everybody in Europe needs this.
hopefully - thanks a lot - don't give up - you are the best.
